Lok: Four.

Is the plane fully booked?
Would it be possible to have a seat in an empty row?
Lesson 25: At the Airport
Announcer: …announce the cancellation of Flight..due to technical reasons.
Will all passengers with tickets for this flight please make your
way to the Asian Airlines information desk.
Lok: Which flight has been cancelled?
Victoria: Your flight is still on the board. I'll find out for you.
Victoria: Excuse me, could you tell me which flight has been cancelled?
Attendant F: Flight 345 to Los Angeles.
Victoria: Thank you.
Lian: Thank goodness. We had a difficult journey here. Our flight
was delayed and we missed our connecting flight.
Harvey: Well it looks like this one will leave as scheduled.
Lian: And it's a direct flight this time. Lok wanted a stopover but I
want to get back to the family.
Schedule
Connecting flight
Direct flight
Stopover
Delay
Cancellation
Interpreter
Weather conditions
Technical reasons
Complimentary voucher
Excuse me, which flight has been cancelled?
Will we still make our connecting flight?
Could you tell me why our flight has been cancelled?
When is the next available flight?
Where can we use these meal vouchers?
Could I have a hotel voucher please?
English F: Would it be possible to speak to an interpreter?
Could you tell me where the restrooms are?
Could you direct me to International Departures please?
Could I have a window seat please?
Could I have a seat on the aisle please?
What time will we be boarding?
Excuse me, which flight has been cancelled?
Will we still make our connecting flight?
Could you tell me why our flight was cancelled?
When is the next available flight?
Where can we use these meal vouchers?
Could I have a hotel voucher please?
Would it be possible to speak to an interpreter?
Could I have a seat
on the aisle
on the aisle?
Could I have a seat
on the aisle
please?
Could I have a seat
on the aisle
on the aisle?
Could I have a seat
on the aisle
please?

English For Tour Guide
Lesson 26: At the airport
Lian: Well, goodbye Harvey. Goodbye Victoria. Thanks for all your
help this week.
Victoria: It's been lovely meeting you.
Lok: Same here. And if you're ever in our neck of the woods, please
look us up. I'll show you some freshwater fishing!
Harvey: Thank you. I'll remember that.
Victoria: Safe flight.
Lok: Bye.
Harvey: You'll be hearing from us!
Lian: Bye.
Attendant: Place your hand luggage on the belt please.
Attendant: Put your watch and keys in the tray.
Attendant: Could you remove your shoes please sir?
Lok: And if you're ever in our neck of the woods, please look us up.
I'll show you some freshwater fishing!
If you're ever in Sydney again, you must look me up.
Give me a call when you're next in town.
Let's keep in touch.
I hope we meet again soon.
If you're ever in Sydney again, you must look me up.
Give me a call when you're next in town.
Let's keep in touch.
I hope we meet again soon.
Safe flight.
Have a good trip.
Have a good flight back.
Take care.
Safe flight.
Have a good trip.
Have a good flight back.
Take care.
Lesson 26: At the airport
Victoria: What a lovely couple. It would be fun to visit Silver Heaven
wouldn't it?
Harvey: Yes it would.
Victoria: I can't believe what we've managed to do in ten days.
Victoria: I think we can congratulate ourselves on a job well done.
Harvey: OK. Well done, Victoria!
Victoria: Excellent work, Harvey! We make a pretty good team.
Victoria: But I'm exhausted. I feel like I need a holiday now!
Harvey: Yes, except that it's Monday tomorrow. Work as usual.
Victoria: Oh Harvey. Can't we take a sickie? Douglas will understand.
Harvey: No, Douglas won't! We have to write our report, and start
making arrangements for the new brand.
Victoria: Oohhhh!
Harvey: But first we'll debrief over lunch. Come on, I'll carry you to the
car!
Harvey: OK. Well done, Victoria!
Victoria: Excellent work, Harvey!
I really like the way you handled the Smith account.
You did a good job, Sue. Congratulations.
Good work, Joe.
Well done, Jin.
I really like the way you handled the Smith account.
You did a good job. Congratulations.
Good work.
Well done.
Victoria: What a lovely couple. It would be fun to visit Silver Heaven
wouldn't it?
Harvey: Yes it would.
Victoria: I can't believe what we've managed to do in ten days.
I think we can congratulate ourselves on a job well done.
Harvey: OK. Well done, Victoria.
Victoria: Excellent work, Harvey. We make a pretty good team.
But I'm exhausted. I feel like I need a holiday now!
Harvey: Yes, except that it's Monday tomorrow. Work as usual.
Victoria: Oh Harvey. Can't we take a sickie? Douglas will understand.
Harvey: No, Douglas won't! We have to write our report, inform our
offshore agency, liaise with the lawyers, and start making
arrangements for the new brand.
Victoria: Oohhhh!
Harvey: But first we'll debrief over lunch. Come on, I'll carry you to the
car!
If you're ever in Sydney again, you must look me up.
Give me a call when you're next in town.
Let's keep in touch.
I hope we meet again soon.
Safe flight.
Have a good trip.
Have a good flight back.
Take care.
I really like the way you handled the Smith account.
You did a good job. Congratulations.
Good work.
Well done.
Have a safe trip
You'll be hearing from us.
Safe trip,
safe trip,
We'll keep in touch.
Have a safe trip
You'll be hearing from us.
Safe trip,
safe trip,
We'll keep in touch.

Mona: Yes, we have a reservation for three nights. Mona White. I called last
week.
Leo: One moment please, Ms White.
(SOUND OF TAPPING ON COMPUTER KEYBOARD)
Leo: Yes, that was for two single rooms wasn't it? I've reserved rooms 402

Mona: Are they quiet rooms?

Mona: Oh. Is there a view?
Leo: Not really.
Mona: Well, we want our rooms together.
Jack (sweetly): Mona.
Mona: Yes, Dad?
Jack: I don't mind if our rooms aren't together. I'd like a lovely view.
Mona: Oh.
Leo: I'll see what I can do.
(SOUND OF TAPPING ON COMPUTER KEYBOARD)
Leo: I can put you both on the same floor. Room 305 with a view and Room
311 at the rear. Your father will be just opposite you, Ms White. Is
that OK?
Mona: Oh, yes, that's fine.
Jack: Thank you.

English for Tourism
Lesson 1: Taking a Reservation over the Phone
Lesson 1: Taking a reservation over the phone.
Leo: Hi, I'm Leo
Mona: Hi, I'm Mona White
Jack: Hi, I'm Jack Webber.
Leo: Plaza Hotel, good morning. Leo speaking.
Mona: Ah yes, I'd like to book two rooms for myself and my father.
Could you tell me the cost of a single room per night?
Leo: Certainly. A single room is 120 dollars American, per night.
Mona: Fine.
Leo: And when would you like the rooms?
Mona: From the 25th to the 28th of September.
Leo: Arriving the 25th of September and leaving on the 28th? Three
nights?
Mona: That's right.
Leo: Just a minute please.
Listen to Leo's greeting with translation..
Leo: Plaza Hotel, good morning. Leo speaking.
Good morning
Good afternoon
Good evening
Leo: Plaza Hotel, good morning. Leo speaking.
Leo: Leo speaking
Mona: Mona speaking
Jack: Jack Webber speaking
Mona: Could you tell me the cost of a single room per night?
Leo: Certainly. A single room is $120 dollars American, per night.
Leo: Certainly.
Certainly
Certainly
Certainly, sir.
Certainly, Mr Webber.
Certainly, madam.
Certainly, Ms White.
Leo: And when would you like the rooms?
Mona: From the 25th to the 28th of September.
Leo: Arriving on the 25th of September and leaving on the 28th?
Three nights?
Mona: That's right.
Leo: Just a minute please.
JULY SECOND,
The second of July
July second
Leo: Plaza Hotel, good morning. Leo speaking.
Mona: Ah yes, I'd like to book two rooms for myself and my father.
Could you tell me the cost of a single room per night?
Leo: Certainly.
A single room is 120 dollars American, per night.
Mona: Fine.
Leo: And when would you like the rooms?
Mona: From the 25th to the 28th of September.
Leo: Arriving the 25th of September and leaving on the 28th?
Leo: Three nights?
Mona: That's right.
Leo: Just a minute please.
.
Lesson 1: Taking a reservation over the phone.
Leo: Just a minute please.
Yes, we have rooms available then. You require two single
rooms?
Mona: Yes, thank you.
Leo: Can I have your name please?
Mona: My name is Mona White.
Leo. And your father's name, Ms White?
Mona: Jack Webber.
Leo: Could you spell the surname please?
Mona: Sure. W-E-double B-E-R.
Leo: Double P for Papa?
Mona: No, double B for Bravo
Leo: Just a minute please.
Just a minute please.
Just a minute please.
Leo: Yes, we have rooms available then. You require two single
rooms?
Mona: Yes, thank you.
Leo: Can I have your name please?
Mona: My name is Mona White.
Leo: And your father's name, Ms White?
Certainly, Mr Webber.
Certainly, Doctor Brown.
Certainly, Ms White.
Certainly, Professor Black.
Certainly, Mrs Green.
Mona: Jack Webber.
Leo: Could you spell the surname please?
Mona: Sure. W-E-double B-E-R.
Leo: Double-P for Papa?
Mona: No, double B for Bravo
A for Alfa.
B for Bravo.
C for Charlie.
D for Delta.
E for Echo.
F for Foxtrot.
G for Golf.
H for Hotel.
I for India.
J for Juliet.
K for Kilo.
L for Lima.
M for Mike.
N for November.
O for Oscar.
P for Papa.
Q for Quebec.
R for Romeo.
S for Sierra.
T for Tango.
U for Uniform.
V for Victor.
W for Whiskey.
X for X-ray.
Y for Yankee.
Z for Zulu.
Leo: Just a minute please.
Yes, we have rooms available then.
You require two single rooms?
Mona: Yes, thank you
Leo: Can I have your name please?
Mona: My name is Mona White.
Leo. And your father's name, Ms White?

English for Tourism
Lesson 2: Taking a Reservation Over the Phone
Leo: Plaza Hotel, good morning. Leo speaking.
Mona: Ah yes, I'd like to book two rooms for myself and my father.
Could you tell me the cost of a single room per night?
Leo: Certainly. A single room is 120 dollars American, per night.
Mona: Fine.
Leo: And when would you like the rooms?
Mona: From the 25th to the 28th of September.
Leo: Arriving the 25th of September and leaving on the 28th? Three
nights?
Mona: That's right.
Leo: Just a minute please…
Yes, we have rooms available then. You require two single
rooms?
Mona: Yes, thank you.
Leo: Can I have your name please?
Mona: My name is Mona White.
Leo: And your father's name, Ms White?
Mona: Jack Webber.
Leo: Could you spell the surname please?
Mona: Sure. W-E double-B E-R.
Leo: Double P for Papa?
Mona: No, double B for Bravo
Now we'll continue with Lesson 2: Taking a Reservation Over the Phone.
Leo: And how will you be paying for your room, Ms White?
Mona: By credit card.
Leo: Both rooms on the same card?
Mona: Yes.
Leo: Your card number please?
Mona: 4434 1234 5678 9902.
Leo: Double one, zero two?
Mona: No, double nine zero two.
Leo: And how will you be paying for your room, Ms White?
Mona: By credit card.
Leo: And how will you be paying for your room, Ms White?
And when would you like the rooms?
And your father's name?
Leo: Your card number please?
Mona: 4434
Mona: 1234
Mona: 5678
Mona: 9902
Leo: Double one, zero two?
Mona: No, double nine zero two.
Double M
Room: R double-O M
Double-8
6 double-oh 2
DOUBLE OH, DOUBLE OH,
Leo: And how will you be paying for your room, Ms White?
Mona: By credit card.
Leo: Both rooms on the same card?
Mona: Yes.
Leo: Your card number please?
Mona: 4434 1234 5678 9902.
Leo: Double one, zero two?
Mona: No, double nine zero two.
Leo: 4434
1234
5678
9902?
Mona: That's right.
Lesson 2: Taking a reservation over the phone.
Leo: Double one, zero two?
Mona: No, double nine zero two.
Leo: And the expiry date?
Mona: Eleven, …
Leo: Could you repeat that please?
Mona: November this year.
Leo: Thank you. I've booked two rooms for Ms White and Mr Webber
from Wednesday the 25th to Saturday the 28th of September.
Mona: Thank you.
Leo: You're welcome. We'll see you on the 5th, Ms White.
Mona: Thanks a lot. Goodbye.
Leo: Goodbye.
Leo: Double one, zero two?
Mona: No, double nine zero two.
Leo: And the expiry date?
Mona: Eleven, …
Leo: Could you repeat that please?
Mona: November this year.
Leo: Double one, zero two?
Mona: The fifth of September.
Leo: The fifth of September?
Mona: Double nine zero two.
Leo: Double nine zero two?
Leo: Could you repeat that please?
Listen and repeat.
Could you repeat that please?
Could you repeat that please?
Leo: Thank you.
Leo: …I've booked two rooms for Ms White and Mr Webber …
Leo: ...from Wednesday the 25th to Saturday the 28th of September.
Mona: Thank you.
Leo: You're welcome...
Leo: …We'll see you on the 25th, Ms White.
Mona: Thanks a lot. Goodbye.
Leo: Goodbye.
YOU ARE WELCOME,
Leo: You're welcome.
Leo: My pleasure.
Leo: No worries.
Leo: And the expiry date?
Mona: Eleven, …
Leo: Could you repeat that please?
Mona: November this year.
Leo: Thank you.
Leo: I've booked two rooms for Ms White and Mr Webber…
Leo: …from Wednesday the 25th to Saturday the 28th of September.
Mona: Thank you.
Leo: You're welcome.
Leo: We'll see you on the 25th, Ms White.
Mona: Thanks a lot. Goodbye.
Leo: Goodbye.
Leo: Plaza Hotel, good morning. Leo speaking.
Mona: Ah yes, I'd like to book two rooms for myself and my father.
Could you tell me the cost of a single room per night?
Leo: Certainly. A single room is 120 dollars American, per night.

Leo: Arriving the 25th of September and leaving on the 28th? Three
nights?
Mona: That's right.
Leo: Just a minute please.
Yes, we have rooms available then. You require two single
rooms?
Mona: Yes, thank you.
Leo: Can I have your name please?
Mona: My name is Mona White.
Leo. And your father's name, Ms White?
Mona. Jack Webber.
Leo: Could you spell the surname please?
Mona: Sure. W-E-double B-E-R.
Leo: Double P for Papa?
Mona: No, double B for Bravo
Leo: And how will you be paying for your room, Ms White?
Mona: By credit card.
Leo: Both rooms on the same card?
Mona: Yes.
Leo: Your card number please?
Mona: 4434 1234 5678 9902.
Leo: Double one, zero two?
Mona: No, double nine zero two.
Leo: 4434 1234 5678 9902?
Mona: That's right.
We'll see you on the 25th, Ms White.
Mona: Thanks a lot. Goodbye.
Leo: Goodbye.
Could you repeat,
Could you repeat,
Could you repeat that please?
Oh-2 double-6?
Or Oh-2 double 3?
Could you repeat,
Could you repeat,
Could you repeat that please?
Oh-2 double-6?
Or oh-2 double-3?

English for Tourism
Lesson 3: Checking in
Lesson 3: Checking in
Leo: Hi, I'm Leo.
Mona : Hi, I'm Mona White.
Jack: Hi, I'm Jack Webber.
Leo: Good afternoon.
Leo: Can I help you?
Mona: Yes, we have a reservation for three nights.
Mona: Mona White. I called last week.
Leo: One moment please, Ms White.
Leo: Yes, that was for two single rooms, wasn't it?
Leo: I've reserved rooms 402 and 403 for you.
Mona: Are they quiet rooms?
Leo: Well they are facing the street…
Leo: … but there's a lovely view.
Mona: We'd like quiet rooms thanks.
Leo: Of course…
Leo: Good afternoon. Can I help you?
" Can I help you?"
Can I help
you? ……Can I help you? …..Good morning, Can I help
you?…….Good afternoon, can I help you?
Leo: I've reserved rooms 402 and 403 for you.
Room three
hundred and eleven。
Room six- fourteen.
Room five-oh-seven.
Room two-oh-nine.
Mona: We'd like quiet rooms thanks.
Leo: Of course…
Of course
Of course
Certainly
Certainly
Leo: Good afternoon.
Leo: Can I help you?
Mona: Yes, we have a reservation for three nights. Mona White. I
called last week.
Leo: One moment please, Ms White.
Leo: Yes, that was for two single rooms wasn't it?
Leo: I've reserved rooms 402 and 403 for you.
Mona: Are they quiet rooms?
Leo: Well they are facing the street… but there's a lovely view.
Mona: We'd like quiet rooms thanks.
Leo: Of course…
Lesson 3: Checking In
Leo: I can put you in rooms three-eleven and three-twelve.
Leo: They're at the rear of the hotel.
Jack: Mona…
Mona: That's much better, thank you.
Jack: Mona…
Mona: Yes, Dad?
Jack: I'd like a view.
Mona: Oh. Is there a view?
Leo: Not really.
Mona: Well, we want our rooms together.
Jack: Mona.
Mona: Yes, Dad?
Jack: I don't mind if our rooms aren't together.
Jack: I'd like a lovely view.
Mona: Oh.
Leo: I'll see what I can do.
Leo: I can put you in rooms three-eleven and three-twelve...
Leo: …They're at the rear of the hotel.
"IN"" ON" 和"AT"。
At the front of the hotel.
At the rear of the hotel。
On the fourth floor.
In the lobby.
Mona: Is there a view?
Leo: Not really.
而 Not really 在
Not really
Not really
Jack: I don't mind if our rooms aren't together. I'd like a lovely view.
Mona: Oh.
Leo: I'll see what I can do.
I'll see
what I can do" , 让我想想办法。 I'd like a view",
例如: I would 可以拼读成 I'd, I have 可以拼读成 I've,
起的时候,I will 就可以读成 I'll, 与 you 你用在一起的时候就
I will, I'll.
I'll arrive on Monday.
She will, she'll.
She'll arrive on Tuesday.
He will, he'll
He'll arrive on Wednesday.
It will, it'll
It'll arrive on Thursday.
We will, we'll,
We'll arrive on Friday.
You will, you'll
You'll arrive on Saturday.
They will, they'll,
They'll arrive on Sunday.
Leo: I can put you in rooms three-eleven and three-twelve.
Leo: They're in the rear of the hotel.
Jack: Mona…
Mona: That's much better, thank you.
Jack: Mona….
Mona: Yes, Dad?
Jack: I'd like a view.
Mona: Oh. Is there a view?
Leo: Not really.
Mona: Well, we want our rooms together.
Jack: Mona.
Mona: Yes, Dad?
Jack: I don't mind if our rooms aren't together. I'd like a lovely view.
Mona: Oh.
Leo: I'll see what I can do.
Can I help?
Can I help?
Can I help you?
Of course, of course
Of course, Madam
I'll see what I can do.
Can I help?
Can I help?
Can I help you?
Of course, of course
Of course, Madam
I'll see what I can do.

English for Tourism
Lesson 4: Checking In
时,你就可以说 "Is that OK ?"
们还要学习有关 there is 和 there are , 和 can 可以、能够及
Leo: Good afternoon. Can I help you?
Mona: Yes, we have a reservation for three nights. Mona White. I
called last week.
Leo: One moment please, Ms White.
Leo: Yes, that was for two single rooms, wasn't it? I've reserved
rooms 402 and 403 for you.
Mona: Are they quiet rooms?
Leo: Well they are facing the street, but there's a lovely view.
Mona: We'd like quiet rooms thanks.
Leo: Of course…
Leo: I can put you in rooms three-eleven and three-twelve. They're
at the rear of the hotel.
Jack: Mona…
Mona: That's much better, thank you.
Jack: Mona…
Mona: Yes, Dad?
Jack: I'd like a view.
Mona: Oh. Is there a view?
Leo: Not really.
Mona: Well, we want our rooms together.
Jack: Mona…
Mona: Yes, Dad?
Jack: I don't mind if our rooms aren't together. I'd like a lovely view.
Mona: Oh.
Leo: I'll see what I can do.
Leo: I can put you both on the same floor.
Leo: Room 305 with a view…
Leo: …and Room 311 at the rear.
Leo: Your father will be just opposite you, Ms White.
Leo: Is that OK?
Mona: Oh, yes, that's fine.
Jack: Thank you.
Leo: My pleasure.
Leo: Could you just fill out this form please?
Leo: Now, can I help you with anything else?
Leo: Is that OK?
Is that
OK? Is that alright? Is that alright? 或者
说 Will that do? Will that do?
Is that OK?
Is that alright?
Will that do?
Can I help
you?
用 could. 例如:Could you fill out this form please?
Leo: Could you just fill out this form please?
Could you spell that, please?
Can I help you?
Can I get you anything else?
Leo: I can put you both on the same floor.
Leo: Room 305 with a view …
Leo: …and Room 311 at the rear.
Leo: Your father will be just opposite you, Ms White.
Leo: Is that OK?
Mona: Oh, yes, that's fine.
Jack: Thank you.
Leo: My pleasure.
Leo: Could you just fill out this form please?
Lesson 4: Checking In
Leo: Now can I help you with anything else?
Mona: Yes, is there an alarm clock in the room?
Leo: Yes, there is.
Mona: And a kettle and tea?
Leo: Yes, there are tea-making facilities in every room.
Mona: And is there an iron?
Leo: I'll see to it right away…
Leo: Now, could I see your credit card please, Ms White?
现在让我们来学习 there is 和 there are 的用法。
某处有一个物体的时候,我们就要说 there is, 例如:there is a
clock。 There is 的缩略语是 there's,
there's a clock。
There's tea in the room" 。
例如:there are two
guests in the lobby There are teamaking
facilities in every room。
There's a kettle in the room.
There's a guest in the lobby.
There are two guests in the lobby.
There are tea-making facilities in every room.
在这个句子前面应该使用 there is 还是 there are.
不要忘记确定在例句前面使用"there's", 而不用"there is"。
Cups in every room
There are cups in every room.
Coffee in every room
There's coffee in every room
A lovely view
There's a lovely view.
People in Room six-oh-four
There are people in room six-oh-four.
Leo: Yes, there are tea-making facilities in every room.
Mona: And is there an iron?
Leo: I'll see to it right away.

English for Tourism
Lesson 6: Making Recommendations
Leo: Good evening, Ms White, Mr Webber.
Jack: Good evening, Leo.
Mona: We're going out for dinner now. Could you recommend a good
restaurant? One that's nearby?
Leo: The Golden Lotus is very close. It's famous for its
seafood. But, if you like to listen to music while you're eating, I
recommend the Pearl Garden Cabaret. It's also within walking
distance.
Mona: Oh no, we'd like a quiet restaurant.
Leo: Then I suggest the Golden Lotus. It's just two doors down, on
the left.
Mona: Thank you.
Jack: Maybe we could go to the cabaret tomorrow night.
Mona: Good evening. Do you speak English?
Jean: Yes, I do. Do you have a reservation?
Mona: No, we don't.
Jean: This way please.
Jean: Would you like to see a menu?
Mona: Yes, we would, thank you.
Jean: Can I get you anything to drink while you decide?
Jack: I'll have a light beer, thank you.
Jean: Local or imported?
Jack: Do you have Australian?
Jean: Yes, we do.
Jack: I'll have Australian thanks.
Mona: Just a bottle of water for me, thank you.
Jean: Certainly.
Jean: Your beer, sir.
And water for you, madam. Now, are you ready to order?
Jack: It all sounds so good. What do you recommend?
Jean: The Crispy Fish is very popular. It comes with a ginger sauce.
Jack: I'll have Crispy Fish then.
Mona: Is the Garlic Chicken very hot?
Jean: Yes, it is. All the dishes in red are quite hot.
Mona: Oh. Could I have the Garlic Chicken without the chillies?
Jean: Yes of course.
Jean: The Crispy Fish is very popular.

Very popular.

Jack: I'll have coconut rice please.
Jean: Fine. Will there be anything else?
Mona: No thank you.
例如:thanks a lot.
Thanks a lot 。

English for Tourism
Lesson 7: In the Restaurant
Lesson 7: In the Restaurant
Jean: Your Crispy Fish, and…
… your Garlic Chicken and vegetables.
Mona: Oh dear.
Jean: Is there a problem?
Mona: There seems to be some mistake. I asked for no chillies. This
chicken has chillies.
Jean: Oh, yes. I see. I'm sorry. I'll get you another one straight away.
Jean: Your Crispy Fish, and…
…your Garlic Chicken and vegetables.
Mona: Oh dear.
Jean: Is there a problem?
Mona: There seems to be some mistake. I asked for no chillies. This
chicken has chillies.
Jean: Oh, yes. I see. I'm sorry. I'll get you another one straight away.
Jean: Is there a problem?
Is there a problem?
Is there a problem?
Is everything OK?
Is everything alright?
Is everything alright?
Jean: I'll get you another one straight away.
Straight away
Leo: I'll see to it right away.
I will see to it right away.
" straight away" 和 " right away" 非常有用。
Straight away.
I'll see to it straight away.
I'll get you another straight away.
Right away.
I'll see to it right away.
I'll get you another right away.
Jean: Your Crispy Fish…
Jean: ...and your Garlic Chicken and vegetables.
Mona: Oh dear.
Jean: Is there a problem?
Mona: There seems to be some mistake. I asked for no chillies.
This chicken has chillies.
Jean: Oh, yes. I see.
Jean: I'm sorry.
Jean: I'll get you another one straight away.
Lesson 7 : In the Restaurant
Jean: There was a slight mix up in the kitchen. We're very busy
tonight. Here is your Garlic Chicken without the chillies. I
apologise for any inconvenience.
Mona: No worries.
Jean: Would you like anything else to drink?
Mona: No, thanks.
Jack: I'm right, thank you.
Jean: There was a slight mix up in the kitchen. We're very busy tonight.
Here's your Garlic Chicken without the chillies. I apologise for
any inconvenience.
Mona: No worries.
Jean: Would you like anything else to drink?
Mona: No, thanks.
Jack: I'm right, thank you.
Jean: Oh yes, I see. I'm sorry.
Jean: I apologise for any inconvenience.
Inconvenience.
Inconvenience.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
I apologise.
I apologise.
I apologise for any inconvenience.
I apologise for any inconvenience.
Waiter, my meal is cold.
I'm sorry. I'll get you another straight away.
There's a fly in my soup.
I apologise. I'll get you another straight away.
My room is too noisy.
I apologise. I'll see to it straight away.
There's no phone in my room.
I apologise. I'll see to it right away.
Jean: Your Crispy Fish and …
… your Garlic Chicken and vegetables.
Mona: Oh dear.
Jean: Is there a problem?
Mona: There seems to be some mistake. I asked for no chillies. This
chicken has chillies.
Jean: Oh, yes. I see. I'm sorry. I'll get you another one straight away.
Jean: There was a slight mix up in the kitchen.
Jean: We're very busy tonight.
Jean: Here's your Garlic Chicken without the chillies.
Jean: I apologise for any inconvenience.
Mona: No worries.
Jean: Would you like anything else to drink?
Mona: No, thanks.
Jack: I'm right, thank you.
Is there a problem?
A problem
With your pies?
I apologise,
Apologise,
I a-pol-o-gise!
Is there a problem?
A problem
With your pies?
I apologise,
Apologise,
I a-pol-o-gise!

English for Tourism
Lesson 8: In the Restaurant (continued)
Jean: Your Crispy Fish and …
… your Garlic Chicken and vegetables.
Mona: Oh dear.
Jean: Is there a problem?
Mona: There seems to be some mistake. I asked for no chillies. This
chicken has chillies.
Jean: Oh, yes. I see. I'm sorry. I'll get you another one straight away.
Jean: There was a slight mix up in the kitchen. We're very busy
tonight. Here is your Garlic Chicken without the chillies. I
apologise for any inconvenience.
Mona: No worries.
Jean: Would you like anything else to drink?
Mona: No, thanks.
Jack: I'm right, thank you.
Jack: That was delicious, thank you.
Jean: I'm glad you liked it, sir.
Now, would you like to see the dessert menu?
Jack: No, thanks.
Mona: Just the bill, thank you.
Would you
like….?
Jean: Would you like to see a menu?
Jean: Would you like any appetizers?
Jean: Would you like boiled or coconut rice with that?
Jean: Would you like to see the dessert menu?
Would you like?
Would you like to see a menu?
Would you like boiled or coconut rice?
Would you like dessert?
you like ….
Something to drink?
Would you like something to drink?
To order now?
Would you like to order now?
To see a menu?
Would you like to see a menu?
Jean: Would you like boiled or coconut rice with that?
Boiled or coconut rice.
Or.
Or.
Boiled or coconut rice?
Would you like boiled or coconut rice?
Tea or coffee?
Would you like tea or coffee?
A single or double room?
Would you like a single or double room?
Jack: That was delicious, thank you.
Jean: I'm glad you liked it, sir.
Jean: Now, would you like to see the dessert menu?
Jack: No, thanks.
Mona: Just the bill, thank you.
Lesson 8: In the Restaurant
Mona: Waitress, there seems to be some mistake.
Jean: Is there a problem?
Mona: I don't understand what this extra $2 is for. Is it a tip?
Jean: Let me see. Ah, that's for use of the towels.
Mona: The towels?
Jean: Yes, the cold towels.
Mona: I see.
Jack: Oh yes, they were lovely towels.
Jean: I'll just get your change.
Jack: You can keep the change.
Jean: Thank you, sir.
Jean: Ah, that's for use of the towels.
That's for 是 that is for 的简略说法,意思是"这是有关某物
That's for the extra coffee.
That's for corkage.
That's for the phone call to Australia.
That's for corkage.
That's for the extra coffee.
That's for the use of the towels.
That's for the phone call to Australia.
Mona: Waitress, there seems to be some mistake.
Jean: Is there a problem?
Mona: I don't understand what this extra $2 is for.
Mona: Is it a tip?
Jean: Let me see.
Jean: Ah, that's for use of the towels.
Mona: The towels?
Jean: Yes, the cold towels.
Mona: I see.
Jack: Oh yes, they were lovely towels.
Jean: I'll just get your change.
Jack: You can keep the change.
Jean: Thank you, sir.
Mona: Waitress, there seems to be some mistake.
Jean: Is there a problem?
Mona: I don't understand what this extra $2 is for. Is it a tip?
Jean: Let me see. Ah, that's for use of the towels.
Mona: The towels?

English for Tourism
Lesson 9: Giving directions
Lesson 9: Giving directions
Leo: Good morning, Ms White, Mr Webber.
Jack: Good morning, Leo.
Mona: Hi, Leo. Is there a major shopping centre nearby?
Leo: The Starlight Shopping Centre has over a hundred shops. I'm
sure you'll find what you want there.
Mona: How do we get there?
Leo: Well, turn right outside the hotel and left at the traffic lights.
Go straight up the street, cross at the next set of lights and turn
right at the pink tower. …
Mona: Oh dear, that's too hard to remember.
Leo: Well then, what about a taxi? You can get one just outside the
hotel.
Leo: Turn right.
Leo: Turn right outside the hotel.
向左转
Leo: Turn left.
Leo: Turn left at the traffic lights.
Leo: Cross.
Leo: Cross at the next set of lights.
Leo: Walk straight.
Leo: Walk straight up the street.
Leo: Well then, what about a taxi?
What about?
What about a taxi?
How about?
How about a taxi?
May I suggest?
May I suggest a cab?
Leo: Good morning, Ms White, Mr Webber.
Jack: Good morning, Leo.
Mona: Hi, Leo. Is there a shopping centre nearby?
Leo: The Starlight Shopping Centre has over a hundred shops.
Leo: I'm sure you'll find what you want there.
Mona: And how do we get there?.
Leo: Well, turn right outside the hotel,
Leo: …and left at the traffic lights.
Leo: Go straight up the street,
Leo: …cross at the next set of lights
Leo: …and turn right at the pink tower…
Mona: Oh dear, that's too hard to remember.
Leo: Well then, what about a taxi?
Leo: You can get one just outside the hotel.
Lesson 9: Giving directions
Leo: Good morning, Ms White, Mr Webber.
Jack: Good morning, Leo.
Mona: Hi, Leo. Is there a shopping centre nearby?
Leo: The Starlight Shopping Centre has over a hundred shops.
Leo: I'm sure you'll find what you want there.
Mona: And how do we get there?
Leo: Well, turn right outside the hotel,
Leo: …and left at the traffic lights.
Leo: Go straight up the street,
Leo: …cross at the next set of lights
Leo: …and turn right at the pink tower…
Mona: Oh dear, that's too hard to remember.
Leo: Well then, what about a taxi?
Leo: You can get one just outside the hotel.
Jack: I don't mind walking, Mona… We turn right outside the hotel,
Leo?
Leo: Yes, that's right. Then left at the traffic lights.
Jack: Turn left?
Leo: That's right. Then walk straight up the street (and …)
Mona: How long does it take to walk there?
Leo: It takes about 10 minutes.
Mona: Then let's get a cab, Dad. Thanks anyway, Leo.
Leo: My pleasure.
We turn right outside the hotel, Leo?
Leo: Yes, that's right.
Jack: Turn left?
Leo: That's right.
That's right.
That's right.
Yes, that's right.
Yes, that's right.
表示对错的"对", 比如说 that's right.
Leo: It takes about 10 minutes.
It takes about 10 minutes.
It takes an hour.
It takes 40 minutes.
比如: it takes five minutes。
How long is the drive to the city?
Twenty minutes.
It takes twenty minutes.
How long does the harbour cruise take?
About four hours.
It takes about four hours.
How long does it take to get to the mountains?
Two days.
It takes two days.
Jack: I don't mind walking, Mona…
Jack: We turn right outside the hotel, Leo?
Leo: Yes, that's right.
Leo: Then left at the traffic lights.
Jack: Turn left?
Leo: That's right.
Leo: Then walk straight up the street
Mona : How long does it take to walk there?
Leo: It takes about 10 minutes.
Mona: Then let's get a cab, Dad. Thanks anyway, Leo.
Leo: My pleasure.
Leo: …and turn right at the pink tower.. ..
Mona: Oh dear, that's too hard to remember.

Joe: Aaah! How long are you here for?
Jack: Three weeks.
Joe: Three weeks in the city?
Jack: No, we're going north on Saturday.
Joe: Where to?
Where to?
Where are you going to?
Where to?
Where to?
Joe: Where do you come from?
这个句型的简略说法是: Where are you from?
Where do you come from?
Where do you come from?

Mona: The silk feels better. But it's so expensive.
Sorry this is taking so long.
Mai: No problem. Take your time.
Mona: Oh, that's nice!
Mai: That hat?
Mona: Yes. Could I try it on?
Mai : Sure. Here you are.
Mona: Oh, it's lovely. How much is it?
Mai: It's $200.
Mona: I'll take it!
Mai: Fine… If you'll just follow me to the cashier…
Emma: That will be $200. How will you be paying for that?
Mona: Credit card, thank you. Could I have a box for it, please?
Emma: Of course. I'll see to it right away.
Emma: If you'll just sign here…
Mona: Sure.
Emma: Your receipt.
Mona: Thank you.
Emma: And your hat.
Mona: Thank you. Goodbye.
Emma: Bye.

English for Tourism
Lesson 14: The Tour Guide
Leo: Good afternoon.
Mona: Hi Leo. Why are you wearing a different uniform?
And where is Mr Le?
Leo: Let me introduce myself. I am Mr Le. Your tour guide.
Jack: Leo, you're a tour guide?
Mona: But you're the hotel receptionist!
Leo: I also work for Five Star Tours.
Mona: I don't understand.
Leo: Please let me explain. I'm saving up to study hotel management
in Australia. So I work for Five Star Tours in my spare time.
Leo: Let me introduce myself. I am Mr Le. Your tour guide.
Let me introduce myself
如: "I am Leo, your tour guide".
Let me introduce myself. I'm Leo. Your tour guide.
Eng: I'm Joe. Your driver.
Eng: I'm Emma. The Cashier.
Eng: I'm Ellia. Your interpreter.
Lesson 14: The Tour Guide
Mona: I'm still not sure about this.
Leo: Let me assure you, Ms White. I have a tourism qualification,
and I've been doing this job for seven years
Mona: But…
Leo: I know all the best tours in the city!
Jack: I'm sure you do, Leo. We would love you to be our tour guide…
Wouldn't we, Mona?
Mona: I suppose so.
Leo: Thank you Ms White, Mr Webber.
Jack: Call me Jack.
Leo: Thank you, Jack. Now, if you'll just follow me to the lounge.
I have some brochures to show you.
Leo: Thank you. Ms White, Mr Webber.
Jack: Call me Jack.
Leo: Thank you, Jack. Now, if you'll just follow me to the lounge.
I have some brochures to show you.
Leo: Let me assure you, Ms White.
Leo: I have a tourism qualification…
Leo: …and I've been doing this job for seven years.
Let me assure you, the fish is fresh today.
Let me assure you, the police have been called.
Leo: Now, if you'll just follow me to the lounge.
您注意到 if you'll just follow me 这句话了吗?
If you'll just follow me.
If you'll just follow me to the lounge.
If you'll just follow me to the cashier.
Leo: Ms White, Mr Webber. How can I help you this afternoon?
Jack: Hi Leo. We're after a tour guide.
Mona: Yes, Leo. We want to make the most of our last day. Can you
recommend a good tour guide?
Leo: I can recommend Five Star Tours. They're very popular.
Mona: We don't want a group though, Leo. We want a private tour
guide.
Leo: Well, there's someone I know of. He's the best in the business.
You'll need him tomorrow?
Mona: Yes.
Leo: I'll see if he's available.
Leo: Excuse me for just a minute.
Leo: You're in luck.
Leo: He is available tomorrow.
Jack: Excellent. When can we speak with him?
Leo: He can meet you today if you like.
Jack: Fine. What time?
Leo: 3 o'clock.
Leo: He said he can meet you here in the lobby.
Mona: What's his name, Leo?
Leo: Mr Le.
Jack: Thanks, Leo.
Leo: My pleasure.
Let me
Let me
Introduce myself
I'm Leo
I'm Leo

English for Tourism
Lesson 15: Discussing a Tour
Leo: Now, what did you have in mind? A full day tour?
Jack: Yes.
Mona: The zoo looks good. I love animals.
Jack: But we can go to the zoo anywhere, Mona. Leo, what's
something we can only see in this city?
Leo: Well, you're in luck. The Lantern Festival parade is on tomorrow.
It's very colourful.
Mona: Is it near the harbour? I'd love to see the harbour.
Jack: We have harbours in Australia, Mona.
Leo: Now, what did you have in mind?
WHAT DID YOU HAVE IN MIND?
WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN MIND?
WHAT SORT OF TOUR WERE YOU
AFTER?在英语中,TO BE AFTER SOMETHING 这个短语表示你想要做
What did you have in mind?
What did you have in mind?
What sort of tour were you after?
What sort of tour were you after?
Leo: The Lantern Festival parade is on tomorrow.
The festival is on tomorrow
The parade is on next Wednesday.
The tour is on at nine.
Lesson 15: Discussing a Tour
Leo: Perhaps this will interest you. It's a dolphin watch harbour
cruise.
Jack: How much will that set us back, Leo?
Leo: As you can see, the price is very reasonable.
Mona: Oh this looks good.
Leo: It's going to be fine and sunny tomorrow.
Leo: Perfect for a cruise.
Jack: I think I'd like to see the parade.
Leo: You can do both! The cruise takes four hours and the parade
doesn't start until after sunset.
Jack: Sounds good to me.
Perfect for a cruise.
Jack: I think I'd like to see the parade.
Leo: You can do both! The cruise takes four hours and the parade
doesn't start until after sunset.
Jack: Sounds good to me.
Leo: Perhaps this will interest you.
那就是 MAY I SUGGEST……..
Perhaps this will interest you.
Perhaps this will interest you.
Jack: How much will that set us back, Leo?
Leo: As you can see, the price is very reasonable.
HOW MUCH WILL THAT SET US BACK?
Reasonable.
Reasonable.
The price is very reasonable.
The price is very reasonable.
As you can see…
As you can see…
As you can see, the price is very reasonable.
As you can see, the price is very reasonable.
Fine and sunny.
It's going to be fine and sunny.
Warm and sunny.
It's going to be warm and sunny.
Perfect.
It's perfect for a cruise.
It's perfect for a picnic.
Colourful.
It's very colourful.
Leo: Perhaps this will interest you.
Leo: It's a dolphin watch harbour cruise.
Leo: The cruise takes four hours…
Leo: … and the parade doesn't start until after sunset.
Jack: Sounds good to me.
What did you have?
What did you have?
What did you have in mind?
The tour is on
The tour is on
The tour is on at nine.
What did you have?
What did you have?
What did you have in mind?
The tour is on
The tour is on
The tour is on at nine.

English for Tourism
Lesson 16: Discussing a Tour
ITINERARY。
Leo: All right. Let's go over our itinerary. We'll take the morning
cruise and then have lunch at the quay. After that, we can visit
the temples or you can come back and rest, depending on how
you feel.
Jack: Yes, let's play that by ear.
Leo: At six we'll have a traditional dinner and then go to the parade.
Mona: Excellent. What time should we start out?
Leo: We should leave the hotel at about 7.30. Don't forget to bring
your camera and it's a good idea to wear warm clothes. It can
get quite chilly on the ferry.
… and then.
… and then have lunch at the quay.
After that.
After that we can visit the temples.
Leo: We should leave the hotel at about 7.30. Don't forget to bring
your camera.
Leo: …and it's a good idea to wear warm clothes.
IT'S A GOOD IDEA 这两
Don't forget.
Don't forget to bring your camera.
It's a good idea.
It's a good idea to wear warm clothes.
Leo: All right. Let's go over our itinerary.
Leo: We'll take the morning cruise…
Leo: …and then have lunch at the quay.
Leo: After that, we can visit the temples…
Leo: …or you can come back and rest…
Leo: …depending on how you feel.
Jack: Yes, let's play that by ear.
Leo: At six we'll have a traditional dinner
Leo: …and then go to the parade.
Mona: Excellent. What time should we start out?
Leo: We should leave the hotel at about 7.30.
Leo: Don't forget to bring your camera…
Leo: …and it's a good idea to wear warm clothes.
Leo: It can get quite chilly on the ferry.
Lesson 16: Discussing a Tour
Mona: Should we take any food?
Leo: There's a kiosk on the ferry but I can ask the kitchen to make up
something to take with you if you prefer.
Jack: Thanks Leo, some sandwiches would be great.
Leo: I'll make the arrangements now. See you in the lobby at 7.30.
Mona: Yes, see you then, Leo.
DEPENDING ON HOW YOU FEEL ,
I'LL MAKE THE ARRANGEMENTS.
WHAT TIME DO WE LEAVE?
If you prefer.
Or you can take a taxi if you prefer.
Depending on how you feel.
Or you can take a taxi, depending on how you feel.
I'll make the arrangements.
What time will we start out?
我们说 TO
PLAY SOMETHING BY EAR
Jack: Yes, let's play that by ear.
"TO PLAY SOMETHING BY EAR"
LET'S WAIT
AND DECIDE LATER""
Let's play it by ear.
Let's play it by ear.
Let's wait and play it by ear.
Let's wait and play it by ear.
Mona: Should we take any food?
Leo: There's a kiosk on the ferry…
Leo: …but I can ask the kitchen…
Leo: … to make up something to take with you...
Leo: …if you prefer.
Jack: Thanks Leo, some sandwiches would be great.
Leo: I'll make the arrangements now.
Leo: See you in the lobby at 7.30.
Mona: Yes, see you then, Leo.
Perfect for a cruise.
Jack: I think I'd like to see the parade.
Leo: You can do both! The cruise takes four hours and the parade
doesn't start until after sunset.
Jack: Sounds good to me.
Leo: All right. Let's go over our itinerary. We'll take the morning
cruise and then have lunch at the quay. After that, we can visit
the temples or you can come back and rest… depending on how
you feel.
Jack: Yes, let's play that by ear.
Leo: At six we'll have a traditional dinner and then go to the
parade.
Mona: Excellent. What time should we start out?
Leo: We should leave the hotel at about 7.30. Don't forget to bring
your camera and it's a good idea to wear warm clothes. It can
get quite chilly on the ferry.
Mona: Should we take any food?
Leo: There's a kiosk on the ferry, but I can ask the
kitchen to make up something to take with you, if you prefer.
Jack: Thanks Leo, some sandwiches would be great.
Leo: I'll make the arrangements now. See you in the lobby at 7.30.
Mona: Yes, see you then, Leo.

Lesson 17: Out on the Ferry
Leo: Just follow me.
Leo: Where would you like to sit?
Leo: Inside or outside?
Jack: Where do you recommend?
Leo: Outside.
Leo: There's a much better view.
Leo: Watch your step.
Leo: Be careful of the ropes.
Leo: What about here?
Jack: This looks fine.
Leo: Are you comfortable, Ms White?
Mona: Fine, thanks.
Leo: Can I get you anything?
Mona: I'm right, thanks.
Leo: Just follow me. Where would you like to sit? Inside or outside?
Jack: Where do you recommend?
Leo: Outside. There's a much better view.
Leo: Watch your step. Be careful of the ropes. What about here?
Jack: This looks fine.
Leo: Are you comfortable, Ms White?
Mona: Fine, thanks.
Leo: Can I get you anything?
Mona: I'm right, thanks.
Leo: Watch your step.
Leo: Be careful of the ropes.
下几种: Be careful……, Watch your………
Watch your…
Watch your step.
Watch your back.
Mind your….
Mind your foot
Mind your head.
Be careful.
Be careful of the ropes.
Be careful of the water.
Leo: Are you comfortable, Ms White?
Leo: Can I get you anything?
Leo: Are you comfortable?
Leo: Are you comfortable?
Can I get you anything?
Can I get you anything?
Leo: Just follow me.
Leo: Where would you like to sit?
Leo: Inside or outside?
Jack: Where do you recommend?
Leo: Outside.
Leo: There's a much better view.
Leo: Watch your step.
Leo: Be careful of the ropes.
Leo: What about here?
Jack: This looks fine.
Leo: Are you comfortable, Ms White?
Mona: Fine, thanks.
Leo: Can I get you anything?
Mona: I'm right, thanks.

Lesson 17: Out on the Ferry
Leo: Over there, on the left you can see the Colonial quarter.
Mona: And what's that over there?
Leo: That's where they have the night market.
If you look up there, on the right, you can see the botanic
gardens.
That's where we'll go tonight. We'll have a clear view of the full
moon.
Leo: Over there, on the left you can see the Colonial quarter.
Mona: And what's that over there?

Leo: That's where they have the night market.
If you look up there, on the right, you can see the botanic
gardens.
That's where we'll go tonight. We'll have a clear view of the full

Leo: Over there, on the left you can see the Colonial quarter.
Leo: If you look up there, on the right, you can see the botanic
gardens.
在这几句对话中,利奥使用了 over on the left……. Up there
on the right……you can see…..
Up there on the right.
Up there on the right, you can see the gardens.
Over on the left.
Over on the left, you can see the market.
If you look up there.
If you look up there, you can see the market.
Leo: That's where they have the night market.
Leo: That's where we'll go tonight.
That's where the President lives.
That's where the festival is held.
That's where the monks pray.
Leo: Over there, on the left…
Leo: …you can see the Colonial quarter.
Mona: And what's that over there?

Jack: Where do you recommend?
Leo: Outside.
Leo: There's a much better view.

Leo: Watch your step. Be careful of the ropes.
Leo: Over there, on the left you can see the Colonial quarter.
Mona: And what's that over there?
Leo: That's where they have the night market.
If you look up there, on the right, you can see the botanic

English for Tourism
Lesson 18: Out on the Ferry
Lesson 18: Out on the Ferry
Leo: Here, try this.
Mona: What's in it?
Leo: It's moon cake.
Mona: No, I asked what's in it?
Leo: Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. It has walnuts, sesame seeds and
egg yolks in it.
Jack: Thanks, Leo. It's delicious.
Leo: It's traditional.
Mona: Hmmm. Yes, very nice.
Leo: Here, try this.
Mona: What's in it?
Leo: It's moon cake.
Mona: No, I asked what's in it?
Leo: Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. It has walnuts, sesame seeds and
egg yolks in it.
Jack: Thanks, Leo. It's delicious.
Leo: It's traditional.
Mona: Hmmm. Yes, very nice.
Leo: Here, try this.
Would you
like to try this? Would you like to
try some of this?
Here, try this.
Here, try this.
Would you like to try this?
Would you like to try this?
Would you like to try some of this?
Would you like to try some of this?
Mona: What's in it?
Leo: It's moon cake.
Mona: No, I asked what's in it?
Leo: Oh, sorry, I misunderstood.
利奥开始以为蒙纳的问题是" What is it?""
实蒙纳问的是 "What's in it?""
Leo: Sorry, I misunderstood.
Sorry, I misunderstood.
Sorry, I misunderstood.
Could you repeat that please?
Sorry, I didn't catch that.
Could you say that slowly please?
Could you repeat that please?
Could you repeat that please?
Could you say that slowly please?
Could you say that slowly please?
Sorry, I didn't catch that.
Sorry, I didn't catch that.
Leo: Here, try this.
Mona: What's in it?
Leo: It's moon cake.
Mona: No, I asked what's in it?
Leo: Oh, sorry, I misunderstood.
Leo: It has walnuts, sesame seeds and egg yolks in it.
Jack: Thanks, Leo. It's delicious.
Leo: It's traditional.
Mona: Hmmm. Yes, very nice.
Lesson 18: Out on the Ferry
Leo: That's a beautiful hat, Ms White.
Mona: Thank you. I bought it yesterday. I'm going to wear it to the
Melbourne Cup. Have you heard of that?
Leo: Yes, it's a very famous horse race.
Leo: Careful!
Mona: My hat!
Leo: There it goes.
Mona: That hat cost $200!
Jack: Oh well.
Man overboard!
Mona: Look over there, Dad. Is that a dolphin in the water?
Jack: No, Mona. That's Leo. He's trying to save your hat!
Leo: That's a beautiful hat, Ms White.
Mona: Thank you. I bought it yesterday. I'm going to wear it to the
Melbourne Cup. Have you heard of that?
Leo: Yes, it's a very famous horse race.
Leo: Careful!
Mona: My hat!
Leo: There it goes.
Mona: That hat cost $200!
Jack: Oh well.
Man overboard!
Mona: Look over there, Dad. Is that a dolphin in the water?
Jack: No, Mona. That's Leo. He's trying to save your hat!
It's traditional.
It's a long way from here.
It's a very famous horse race.
Leo: That's a beautiful hat, Ms White.
Mona: Thank you. I bought it yesterday. I'm going to wear it to the
Melbourne Cup. Have you heard of that?
Leo: Yes, it's a very famous horse race.
Leo: Careful!
Mona: My hat!
Leo: There it goes.
Mona: That hat cost $200!
Jack: Oh well.
Man overboard!
Mona: Look over there, Dad. Is that a dolphin in the water?
Jack: No, Mona. That's Leo. He's trying to save your hat!
Leo: Just follow me. Where would you like to sit? Inside or outside?
Jack: What do you recommend?
Leo: Outside. There's a much better view. Watch your step.
Be careful of the ropes.
Leo: What about here?
Jack: This looks fine.
Leo: Are you comfortable, Ms White?
Mona: Fine, thanks.
Leo: Can I get you anything?
Mona: I'm right, thanks.
Leo: Over there, on the left, you can see the Colonial quarter.
Mona: And what's that over there?
Leo: That's where they have the night market.
Leo: If you look up there, on the right, you can see the botanic
gardens. That's where we'll go tonight. We'll have a clear view
of the full moon.
Leo: Here, try this.
Mona: What's in it?
Leo: It's moon cake.
Mona: No, I asked what's in it?
Leo: Oh, sorry, I misunderstood. It has walnuts, sesame seeds and
egg yolks in it.
Jack: Thanks, Leo. It's delicious.
Leo: It's traditional.
Mona: Hmmm. Yes, very nice.
Leo: That's a beautiful hat, Ms White.

Lesson 19: At the Festival
Mona: Thank you for saving my hat today, Leo.
Leo: My pleasure.
Mona: You were very brave.
Leo: It was nothing, really. Now, if we get separated we'll meet back
here.
Jack: At the gate?
Leo: Yes. Now these are for you.
Mona: Lanterns!
Leo: Yes. Yours is a butterfly.
Mona: Oh, it's pretty.
Leo: It represents longevity. And yours is a crab, Jack.
It's said to be the symbol of the emperor.
Mona: And what's yours, Leo?

Mona: Thank you for saving my hat today, Leo.
Leo: My pleasure.
Mona: You were very brave.
Leo: It was nothing, really. Now, if we get separated we'll meet back
here.
Jack: At the gate?
Leo: Yes. Now these are for you.
Mona: Lanterns!

Leo: Now, if we get separated…
Leo: … we'll meet back here.
If we get separated.
If we get separated.
We'll meet at the gate.

Mona: And what's yours, Leo?
Leo: Mine's a lobster. A symbol of fun.

Mona: Tell me about the moon, Leo.
Leo: Well, the legend goes, that there's an old man on the moon…
Excuse me。
Jack: Excuse me, Mona, Leo? I think I might walk down to the beach.
I'm leaving on the tenth.
Excuse me?
I said, I'm leaving on the tenth.
Excuse me
Excuse me for a minute.
Excuse me, I must go.
Excuse me .
Excuse me .
Excuse me, are you Mr Le?
Excuse me, I don't understand.
Excuse me for a minute.
Excuse me, I must go.
Jack: So the festival happens on the full moon?
Leo: Yes. It's a time for families to get together.
Mona: And what about your family, Leo?
Leo: My parents live in a village a long way from here.
Mona: I mean your wife and kids…
Leo: Oh, I'm not married.
Mona: Oh really?
Jack: Excuse me, Mona, Leo?
Mona: That's interesting…
Jack: Mona, I think I might walk down to the beach.
Mona: Tell me about the moon, Leo.
Leo: Well, the legend goes…
Leo: …that there's an old man on the moon…

English for Tourism
Lesson 20: At the Festival
Mona: Tell me about the moon, Leo.
Leo: Well, the legend goes that there's an old man on the moon who
has the names of all the newborn babies. He knows who will
marry whom. Look around you. People are making wishes to
him. It is said that he will grant your wish.
Mona: Really? That's interesting.
Mona: Oh, Leo, I'm sorry I have been so rude to you.
Leo: Not at all.
Mona: No, I have been rude. You've been patient and wise and
brave…
Leo: It's nice of you to say so.
Mona: Tell me about the moon, Leo.
Leo: Well, the legend goes that there's an old man on the moon who
has the names of all the newborn babies.
Leo: He knows who will marry whom. Look around you. People are
making wishes to him. It's said that he will grant your wish.
Mona: Really? That's interesting.
Mona: Oh, Leo, I'm sorry I have been so rude to you.
Leo: Not at all.
Mona: No, I have been rude.
Mona: You've been patient and wise and brave…
Leo: It's nice of you to say so.
That's very nice of you to say so"
It was nothing really.
It was nothing really.
It's nice of you to say so.
It's nice of you to say so.
Thank you, it's nice of you to say so.
Thank you, it's nice of you to say so.
Leo: Well, the legend goes that there's an old man on the moon…
Leo: …who has the names of all the newborn babies.
Leo: He knows who will marry whom.
Mona: Tell me about the moon, Leo.
Leo: Well, the legend goes that there's an old man on the moon who
has the names of all the newborn babies. He knows who will
marry whom. Look around you. People are making wishes to
him. It is said that he will grant your wish.
Mona: Really? That's interesting.
Mona: Oh, Leo, I'm sorry I have been so rude to you.
Leo: Not at all.

brave…
Leo: It's nice of you to say so.

Lesson 20: At the Festival
Mona: Look at the lanterns. They're so pretty. What do you think,
Dad? Dad? Leo, where's my father?
Leo: Your father?
Mona: I can't see him anywhere.
Mona: Why weren't you watching?
Leo: Excuse me?
Mona: He's not here! We must call the police.
Leo: That may not be necessary. Your father is a very
smart man, Ms White. I'm sure he knows his way back. Let's
check the hotel first.
Mona: Look at the lanterns. They're so pretty. What do you think,
Dad? Dad? Leo, where's my father?
Leo: Your father?
Mona: I can't see him anywhere.
Mona: Why weren't you watching?
Leo: Excuse me?
Mona: He's not here!
Mona: We must call the police.
Leo: That may not be necessary. Your father is a very smart man, Ms
White. I'm sure he knows his way back. Let's check the hotel
first.
That may not be necessary
That may not be necessary
Let's check the hotel first.
Let's try his room first.
Mona: Look at the lanterns. They're so pretty. What do you think,
Dad? Dad? Leo, where's my father?
Leo: Your father?
Mona: I can't see him anywhere.
Mona: Why weren't you watching?
Leo: Excuse me?
Mona: He's not here! We must call the police.
Leo: That may not be necessary. Your father is a very
smart man, Ms White. I'm sure he knows his way back. Let's
check the hotel first.
It's said to be
the symbol of the emperor.
Mona: And what's yours, Leo?
Leo: Mine's a lobster. A symbol of fun.
Leo: Well, the legend goes that there's an old man on the moon who
has the names of all the newborn babies. He knows who will
marry whom.

that he will grant your wish.

English for Tourism
Lesson 21: Dealing with a situation
Lesson 21: Dealing with a situation
Leo: Excuse me, Justine? Ms White, from Room 311, would like
to speak to you.
Justine: Certainly. How can I help you, Ms White?
Mona: My father is missing. Your receptionist lost him. We were at the
festival and I'm sure he's dead!
Justine: I can see this is very serious. May I suggest you come to my
office?
Mona: I don't want to go anywhere. I want to find my father. He's been
missing for hours!
Justine: It must be very upsetting for you, Ms White.
Leo: Excuse me, Justine? Ms White, from Room 311, would like
to speak to you.
Justine: Certainly. How can I help you, Ms White?
Mona : My father is missing.
Justine: May I suggest you come to my
office?
May I suggest you come to my office?
May I suggest you come to my office?
May I suggest we sit down?
May I suggest we sit down?
Justine: I can see this is very serious.
Justine: It must be very upsetting for you, Ms White.
This is very serious.
This is very serious. I can see this is very serious.
I can see this is very serious.
It must be very upsetting for you.
It must be very upsetting for you.
Leo: Excuse me, Justine? Ms White, from Room 311, would like
to speak to you.
Justine: Certainly. How can I help you, Ms White?
Mona : My father is missing.
Lesson 21: Dealing with a situation
Justine: Let me see if I understand you clearly. You were at the festival
with your father?
Mona: Yes, and Leo.
Justine: Leo?
Leo: I was their tour guide.
Justine: I see. So what you are saying is that you were separated from
your father.
Mona: Yes.
Justine: Had you arranged a meeting place, Leo?
Leo: Yes I had. But that's where we were standing when we lost him.
Justine: Is your father elderly, Ms White?
Leo: Not at all.
Justine: Is he frail?
Mona: Well, he is over fifty.
Justine: And how long has he been missing?
Mona: Nearly an hour!
Justine: I see.
Is he frail?
Leo: Not at all.
Mona: Well, he is over fifty.
Justine: And how long has he been missing?
Mona: Nearly an hour!
Justine: I see.
Justine: Let me see if I understand you clearly.
Justine: So what you are saying is that you were separated from
your father
So what you're saying is ……"和 "Let me see if I
Let me see if I understand you.
Let me see if I understand you clearly.
So what you're saying is…
So what you're saying is that your father is missing.
I see.
I see
Justine: Let me see if I understand you clearly.
Let me see
Let me see
If I understand you clearly
Is your father,
Is your father,
Is your father elderly?
Let me see
Let me see
If I understand you clearly
Is your father,
Is your father,
Is your father elderly?

Lesson 22: Dealing with a situation
Leo: Excuse me, Justine? Ms White, from Room 311, would like
to speak to you.
Justine: Certainly. How can I help you, Ms White?
Mona : My father is missing.
Let me see if I

Leo: Not at all.
Justine: Is he frail?
Mona: Well, he is over fifty.
Justine: And how long has he been missing?
Mona: Nearly an hour!
Justine: I see.
Justine: And you've checked your father's room?
Mona: Yes. There's no answer.
Justine: Ms White, is it possible that your father is making his
own way back?
Mona: I don't know. I would like you to call the police.
Jack: That won't be necessary.
Mona: Dad, where have you been?
Jack: I went down to the beach. I said goodbye, but you were too busy
talking to Leo.
Justine: And you are Ms White's father?
Leo: Yes. Jack Webber, this is Justine, the manager.
Justine: Ms White, is it possible that your father is making his
own way back?
Is it possible?
Is it possible?
Is it possible you left your bag in your room?
Is it possible you left your watch in the lounge?
Leo: Jack Webber, this is Justine, the manager.
Leo: Excuse me, Justine? Ms White, from Room 311, would like
to speak to you.
Jack Webber, this is Justine, the manager.
Ms White, from Room 311, would like to speak to you.

Lesson 22: Dealing with a situation
Jack: Justine, I'm sorry if I caused any trouble. Can I just say that you
have a very good worker in Leo. He's been more than helpful.
Hasn't he, Mona?
Mona: Oh, I'm sorry I blamed you, Leo, but I was very upset. Maybe
we should all go to the lounge and calm down.
Leo: Thank you for your kind invitation, Ms White… but I must go
home now.
Jack: And I must go to the Pearl Garden Cabaret. I'll see you in the
morning, Mona!
Mona: Oh!
Justine: Good night, Ms White!
Jack: Justine, I'm sorry if I caused any trouble. Can I just say that you
have a very good worker in Leo. He's been more than helpful.
Hasn't he, Mona?
Mona: Oh, I'm sorry I blamed you, Leo, but I was very upset. Maybe,
we should all go to the lounge and calm down.
Leo: Thank you for your kind invitation, Ms White. …but I must go
home now.
Jack: And I must go to the Pearl Garden Cabaret. I'll see you in the
morning, Mona!
Mona: Oh!
Justine: Good night, Ms White!
Mona: Maybe, we should all go to the lounge and calm down.
Leo: Thank you for your kind invitation, Ms White… but I must go
home now.
Thank you for your kind invitation.
Thank you for your kind invitation.
Thank you for your kind offer.
Thank you for your kind offer.
Leo: Thank you for your kind invitation, Ms White… but I must go
home now.
Jack: And I must go to the Pearl Garden Cabaret. I'll see you in the
morning, Mona!
Mona: Oh!
Justine: Good night, Ms White!
Leo: Excuse me, Justine? Ms White, from Room 311, would like to
speak to you.
Let me see if I
understand you clearly. You were at the festival with your
father?
Mona: Yes, and Leo.
Justine: Leo?
Leo: I was their tour guide.
Justine: I see. So what you are saying is that you were separated from
your father?
Mona: Yes.
Justine: Had you arranged a meeting place, Leo?
Leo: Yes I had. But that's where we were standing when we lost him.
Justine: Is your father elderly, Ms White? Is he frail?
Leo: Not at all!
Mona: Well, he is over fifty.
Justine: And how long has he been missing?
Mona: Nearly an hour!
Justine: I see. And you've checked your father's room?
Mona: Yes.
Justine: Ms White, is it possible that your father is making his
own way back?
Mona: I don't know. I would like you to call the police.
Jack: That won't be necessary.
Mona: Dad, where have you been?
Jack: I went down to the beach. I said goodbye, but you were too
busy talking to Leo.
Justine: Ms White, this is your father?
Leo: Yes. Jack Webber, this is Justine, the manager.
Jack: Justine, I'm sorry if I caused any trouble. Can I just say that you
have a very good worker in Leo. He's been more than helpful.
Hasn't he, Mona?
Mona: I'm sorry I blamed you, Leo, but I was very upset. Maybe, we
should all go to the lounge and calm down.
Leo: Thank you for your kind invitation, Ms White, but I must go home
now.
Jack: And I must go to the Pearl Garden Cabaret. I'll see you in the
morning, Mona!
Mona: Oh!
Justine: Good night, Ms White!
The guest

English for Tourism
Lesson 23: Checking Out
Lesson 23: Checking Out
们要使用 go to, 或者 go, 以及 look at, look over 和 look
Leo: Good morning, Ms White, Mr Webber.
Jack: Good morning, Leo. Mona and I are checking out this morning.
We're going hiking.
Mona: Yes. We're going to the mountains. They're a long way from
here.
Leo: Excellent. Could I have your keys please?
Leo: Two single rooms for three nights. Will you be paying separately?
Mona: No, we're paying on the one card.
Leo: Fine. I'll just print up your invoices. While you're waiting, would
you mind filling out this client satisfaction survey?
Leo: Good morning, Ms White, Mr Webber.
Jack: Good morning, Leo. Mona and I are checking out this morning.
We're going hiking.
Mona: Yes. We're going to the mountains. They're a long way from
here.
Leo: Excellent. Could I have your keys please?
Leo: Two single rooms for three nights. Will you be paying separately?
Mona: No, we're paying on the one card.
Leo: Fine. I'll just print up your invoices. While you're waiting, would
you mind filling out this client satisfaction survey?
Leo: Will you be paying separately?
Will you be paying separately?
Will you be paying separately?
Leo: Fine. I'll just print up your invoices.
receipts.
Invoice.
Here is your invoice.
Invoices.
Here are your invoices.
Statement.
Here is your statement.
Receipt.
Here is your receipt.
非常有用的状语短语,那就是 "while you are waiting……"
Can I get you anything while you're waiting?
While you're waiting, would you like some refreshments?
Jack: We're going hiking.
Mona: Yes. We're going to the mountains.
蒙纳说 "we're going to the mountains " 我们要去爬山了。
而杰克则说" we're going hiking"。
时英语就是:"go to a swimming pool"。
Go to the swimming pool
Go swimming.
Go to the shop.
Go shopping.
Lesson 23: Checking Out
Leo: Here are your invoices. Do you need a minute to look over them?
Jack: Yes, thanks Leo.
Mona: Oh, this isn't right. Leo, this laundry bill seems too much.
Leo: Let me see. Hmm. That's for emergency dry cleaning.
Mona: I can't remember any dry cleaning.
Leo: Repairs to your hat, Ms White.
Mona: Sixty dollars?
Leo: It was cleaned at very short notice and on a holiday.
However, I can query it if you like.
Mona: No, that's OK.
Leo: Here are your invoices.
Leo: Do you need a minute to look over them?
单时,英语就是" look over an invoice"。
说 "look through brochures"。
Would you like to look over your statement?
Would you like to look at a menu?
Would you like to look through these brochures?
Leo: However, I can query it if you like.
However 是 but 这个词
I can query it if you like.
I can query it if you like.
However, I can query it if you like.
However, I can query it if you like.
Leo: Here are your invoices.
Leo: Do you need a minute to look over them?
Mona: Oh, this isn't right.
Mona: Leo, this laundry bill seems too much.
Leo: Let me see. Hmm.
Leo: That's for emergency dry cleaning.
Mona: I can't remember any dry cleaning.
Leo: Repairs to your hat, Ms White.
Mona: Sixty dollars?
Leo: It was cleaned at very short notice…
Leo: … and on a holiday.
Leo: However, I can query it if you like.
Mona: No, that's OK.
Will you be paying
Will you be paying
Will you be paying
Separately?
While you are waiting
While you are waiting
While you are waiting
Would you like tea?
Will you be paying
Will you be paying
Will you be paying
Separately?
While you are waiting
While you are waiting
While you are waiting
Would you like tea?

English for Tourism
Lesson 24: Checking Out (continued)
Jack: Leo, I have a query. This amount, under newspapers.
Leo: Ah yes. I see the problem.
Leo: You've been charged for the local newspaper.
Jack: But Leo, I never ordered a local paper. I can't read Chinese you
see.
Leo: You're quite right.
Leo: I'm terribly sorry about that.
Leo: I'll fix it right away.
Leo: There, problem fixed.
Jack: Thanks.
Jack: Leo, I have a query. This amount, under newspapers.
Leo: Ah yes. I see the problem. You've been charged for the local
newspaper.
Jack: But Leo, I never ordered a local paper. I can't read Chinese you
see.
Leo: You're quite right. I'm terribly sorry about that. I'll fix it right
away.
Leo: There, problem fixed.
Jack: Thanks.
Leo: Ah yes. I see the problem. You've been charged for the local
newspaper.
see the problem, 我明白了。。。另外,利奥还说 you've been
charged for …
样的短语: that's for …..这是。。。
That's for the dry cleaning.
I see the problem.
I see the problem.
You've been charged for the newspaper.
That's for the newspaper.
You've been charged for the dry cleaning.
That's for the dry cleaning.
Leo: You're quite right.
Leo: I'm terribly sorry about that.
Leo: I'll fix it right away.
Leo: There, problem fixed.
You're quite right.
I'm terribly sorry about that.
I'll fix it right away.
There, problem fixed.
Leo: Now, Ms White, if you'll just sign here. Will you be requiring a
taxi?
Jack: It's fine, Leo. We'll get one outside.
Leo: Well, I hope you've enjoyed your stay.
Jack: Thanks, Leo. Here's my card. When you come to study in
Melbourne, you're welcome to call. We'll show you some of the
tourist sights.
Leo: That's a very kind offer, Jack. I might do that.
Jack: Thanks for everything. Bye.
Leo: Goodbye Jack. Enjoy your trip.
Mona: Leo, there is one other thing.
Leo: Yes?
Mona: Thanks for all your help.
Leo: It was my pleasure. Goodbye, Ms White. Have a pleasant trip.
Leo: Now, Ms White, if you'll just sign here. Will you be requiring a
taxi?
Jack: It's fine, Leo. We'll get one outside.
Leo: Well, I hope you've enjoyed your stay.
Jack: Thanks, Leo. Here's my card. When you come to study in
Melbourne, you're welcome to call. We'll show you some of the
tourist sights.
Leo: That's a very kind offer, Jack. I might do that.
Jack: Thanks for everything. Bye.
Leo: Goodbye Jack. Enjoy your trip.
Mona: Leo, there is one other thing.
Leo: Yes?
Mona: Thanks for all your help.
Leo: It was my pleasure. Goodbye, Ms White. Have a pleasant trip.
I hope you've enjoyed your stay.
Enjoy your trip.
Have a pleasant trip.
Have a safe journey
home.
I hope you've enjoyed your stay.
Enjoy your trip.
Have a pleasant trip.
Have a safe journey home.
Leo: Now, Ms White, if you'll just sign here. Will you be requiring a
taxi?
Jack: It's fine, Leo. We'll get one outside.
Leo: Well, I hope you've enjoyed your stay.
Jack: Thanks, Leo. Here's my card. When you come to study in
Melbourne, you're welcome to call. We'll show you some of the
tourist sights.
Leo: That's a very kind offer, Jack. I might do that.
Jack: Thanks for everything. Bye.
Leo: Goodbye Jack. Enjoy your trip.
Mona: Leo, there is one other thing.
Leo: Yes?
Mona: Thanks for all your help.
Leo: It was my pleasure. Goodbye, Ms White. Have a pleasant trip.

Leo: Goodbye Jack. Enjoy your trip.
Mona: Leo, there is one other thing.
Leo: Yes?
Mona: Thanks for all your help.
Leo: It was my pleasure. Goodbye, Ms White. Have a pleasant trip.
(I) Hope you've enjoyed
Hope you've enjoyed
Hope you've enjoyed
Your stay
I see the problem
I see the problem
I'll fix it right away
(I) Hope you've enjoyed
Hope you've enjoyed
Hope you've enjoyed
Your stay
I see the problem
I see the problem
I'll fix it right away
English For Tour Guide
Lesson 6: First Contact
如何回答 "Do you mind。。。?
Lian: Hmm. This tea is interesting.
Harvey: Yes, it's from umm…
Lian: It's from the Fujian region of China…
Harvey: So you know a bit about teas?
Lian: A bit.
Harvey: Ah. Let me introduce myself, I'm Harvey Judd. I'm the Chief
Purchasing Officer at Hale and Hearty. You can call me Harvey.
Lian: Pleased to meet you, Harvey. I'm Lian and this is my
husband, Lok.
Lok: How do you do? I'm sorry, my English could be better.
Harvey: It sounds fine to me. Do you mind if I call you Lok?
Lok: Not at all.
Lian: I see, from your map that you also distribute in New Zealand.
Harvey: Yes, we're just starting to expand to New Zealand…
Lok: Good fishing in New Zealand.
Harvey: Oh, you like fishing? Fresh water? So do I. There are some
great fishing spots around Sydney, too.
Lok: Do you know a good place?
Harvey: There's a place in the Blue Mountains. Great for trout fishing…
Lok: Ahhh…
Harvey: Oh, you like fishing? Fresh water? So do I. There are some
great fishing spots around Sydney, too.
在这个句子中导游哈维说 "So do I. 我也是"。 在英语中 So, Too 或
I don't like smoking,
一说法时,就可以说 Either do I. 或者 Neither do I, 或者
I don't either.
例如,如果对方说 "I can swim.
"So can I. 我也会"。
"So am I. 我也很高兴"。
I don't eat meat.
I don't either.
I can't play tennis.
Neither can I.
I'm really interested in Chinese Literature.
I am too.
Lesson 6: First Contact
Harvey: I'm surprised you haven't got a stall here.
Lian: Well I wanted one… but my husband wants a holiday.
Lian: And now. I think we'd better see the rest of the exhibition.
Harvey: Well, it's been a pleasure to meet you. Can I give you my card?
Lian: Thank you.
Harvey: If you like, I can get you some information about those fishing
tours.
Lok: Thank you. That's very kind.
Harvey: Would you mind if I called you at your hotel?
Lian: Not at all. We're staying at the Hotel Opal.
Victoria: Harvey...
Harvey: Victoria, you're back. Let me introduce you. This is Lian and
Lok Lee. And this is Victoria Song. She's our Public Relations
Manager… Oh, Victoria. Would you like to sit down? You look a
little pale…
Harvey: Would you mind if I called you at your hotel?
Lian: Not at all. We're staying at the Hotel Opal.
使用的句型是 Do you mind…
Can I
call you at your hotel?
"That's fine.
rather not, if that's OK,如果您不反对的话,我想最好不要这
Do you mind if I call you Charlie?
Not at all.
Do you mind if we work back until eight?
I'd rather not, if that's OK.
Do you mind if we walk to the office?
That's fine.
Harvey: Well, it's been a pleasure to meet you. Can I give you my card?
It's been a
pleasure meeting you. It was nice
句子是 nice to meet you.
It's been a pleasure meeting you.
Nice to meet you.
Can I give you my card?
I can't eat chillies.
Neither can I.
I'm happy with the proposal.
I am too.
I'd rather not, if that's OK.
That's fine.
A: I can't eat fish
B: Neither can I.
A: But I like fishing
B: So do I!
A: I can't eat fish
B: Neither can I.
A: But I like fishing
B: So do I!

Lesson 21: Complaints and Crises
Jeff: Business Unit. Jeff speaking.
Harvey: Hi Jeff. It's Harvey here. Is that M.O.U. ready yet?
Jeff: The order only came in this afternoon.
Harvey: Yes, but it's urgent Jeff, we need it drawn up today.
Jeff: Harvey, it's Friday afternoon. We're just about out the door!
I'll have it for you first thing Monday.
Harvey: I'm sorry but that's just not good enough. Monday's too late.
As I said in my email, the Lees are leaving on Sunday.
Jeff: Oh.
Harvey: So I'll expect it on my desk by four.
Jeff: Four on Monday, OK.
Harvey: Not four on Monday, Jeff. Four today.
Harvey: If you can't do it, I'll have to outsource.
Jeff: All right. All right. I'll start on it now.
Harvey: Thank you.
Harvey: Unbelievable!
I have a query…
Is the contract ready yet?
Have you sent that order yet?
We seem to be missing the June payment.
Could you check to see if you sent the full shipment?
I have a query…
Is the contract ready yet?
Have you sent that order yet?
We seem to be missing the June payment.
Could you check to see if you sent the full shipment?
It's very urgent.
We needed it yesterday.
We're waiting on that T.T.
It's very urgent.
We needed it yesterday.
We're waiting on that T.T.
Harvey: So I'll expect it on my desk by four.
We'll need it by the weekend.
We can give you only two more days.
I'll expect it tomorrow.
We'll need it by the weekend.
We can give you only two more days.
Harvey: If you can't do it, I'll have to outsource.
If you are unable to move on this, we'll have to cancel the order.
I'm afraid we'll have to look elsewhere unless you can deliver.
If you can't do it, I'll have to outsource.
If you are unable to move on this, we'll have to cancel the order.
I'm afraid we'll have to look elsewhere unless you can deliver.
Lesson 21: Complaints and Crises
Harvey: Yes?
Kate: Harvey, Lian Lee is on the line for you.
Harvey: Thanks Kate. Put her through. Hello Lian.
Lian: Harvey, I'm afraid I have some bad news.
Harvey: What is it Lian?
Lian: It's Lok. He doesn't want the deal to go ahead.
Harvey: Why not?
Lian: Well, I don't know how to tell you this: but it's the packaging.
Lian: The Hale and Hearty colours are not auspicious in our culture.
Harvey: Oh, I see. But these packets are going to be distributed here.
Harvey: You can keep your own packaging for your market.
Lian: I'm fine with it, Harvey. It's Lok. He's so superstitious.
He hasn't been able to sleep worrying about it.
Lian: And if Lok can't sleep then something is really wrong. He slept
through a hurricane once!
Harvey: First of all, thank you for calling Lian. I appreciate your concern.
Harvey: I'm sure we can come to some arrangement. Can I get back to
you?
Lian: Sure, but we leave on Sunday.
Harvey: OK. I'll call you as soon as I can.
Lian: Harvey, I'm afraid I have some bad news.
Lian: Well, I don't know how to tell you this: but it's the packaging.
I don't want to cause you undue concern but there's a matter we need to
discuss.
I'm afraid something's come up.
There's been a bit of a setback.
I'm afraid I have some bad news.
I don't know how to tell you this but...
I don't want to cause you undue concern.
There's a matter we need to discuss.
I'm afraid something's come up.
There's been a bit of a setback.
Harvey: First of all, thank you for calling Lian. I appreciate your concern.
I'm sure we can come to some arrangement. Can I get back to
you?
First of all, thank you for calling.
I appreciate your concern.
I'm sure we can come to some arrangement.
Can I get back to you?
I'm afraid I have,
I'm afraid I have,
I'm afraid I have bad news.
I'll see what I
I'll see what I
I'll see what I can do.
I'm afraid I have,
I'm afraid I have,
I'm afraid I have bad news.
I'll see what I
I'll see what I
I'll see what I can do.
